My cynical side says that this is just a PR stunt. Find a minor problem in the construction where the city can play the diligent protector of public monies, while Fritzel does whatever the hell he pleases otherwise, as is his normal MO.

Did anyone else see the Old Spice Momsong commercial this weekend during the games?  On a scale of 1 to 10 in creepy, it scored a 10.5.

  School choice
Posted by: Jessamine - 01-06-2014, 05:38 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

This is telling it like it is! "They intentionally misdiagnose underperforming schools as cases of lousy education when the real illness is poverty. That allows them to prescribe a very lucrative (for themselves) cure." "School choice" is not about helping poor kids getting better educations. It's a scam about moving money into the hands of those who want to profit either fiscally or philosophically by running their own schools with taxpayer dollars. It's as unsound thinking as trickle-down economics, which shouldn't surprise us as it is pretty much brought to you by the same people.

  Can we talk about.....
Posted by: Jessamine - 01-06-2014, 04:43 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

The reason some people use ad hominem tactics?

Is it used by lazy thinkers?
Is it somehow more satisfying to the psyche of those who only see good and evil?
Is it a weak attempt to control the crowd?
Are we headed for Idiocracy?

UNDER THE STREET - Monday 1/6/2014 (posted Sunday evening)

The uber cold weather begs the question: if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be & why?

  Ether @ 469° Rankine
Posted by: RETICENT_IRREVERENT - 01-05-2014, 09:59 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

It's 469° Rankine, the tractor needs to be started.
It is dark in the barn, and it will take 20 mins for the lights to warm up enough to put out some light.  So I put the charger/starter on the beast and set it to 200 amps, then spray a short shirt of 50% ether into the intake. Taking off my glove and placing it between my teeth, I mount the beast, and push on the start button. Rudolf's creation pops on the first crank even though the glow plugs don't work.
I get ethervison and down I go, but not before I see either Jesus or a long haired hippie freak sitting on the bottom chord of a truss.

In the dark, I had the sprayed the ether onto the glove instead of into the intake.

When I can see straight I notice the only footprints in the snow are mine.

Jesus?

For getting this info out to a broader audience!

http://www2.ljworld.com/weblogs/first-be...-question/

"Last week we ran a story about a poll on school finance issues conducted by the conservative think tank Kansas Policy Institute, including reaction from education advocates who said the questions were loaded with false or misleading information that appeared aimed at eliciting a negative response.

At the time, KPI defended the wording of the question, as did the polling firm SurveyUSA. Since then, however, another education advocacy group, the Kansas Association of School Boards, has weighed in with more information, prompting KPI to concede that one question was misleading. In a phone call with the Journal-World Friday afternoon, KPI spokesman James Franko said the group would soon post a clarification on its own blog."
