I didn't vote for Brownback, so he's not my governor?  Jenkins not my Rep.?  

The house I own and the lot it sits on are going to secede from the union!!!    Rolleyes

I'd say it means that people who didn't vote for him, don't like him, and think he'll be a bad president aren't going to just "fall in line" and support him because he won. And that they feel that he won't be representing their point of view as president.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.

Put very simply, what is meant by the phrase is that IT IS NOT MY FAULT YOU ELECTED THIS PRESIDENT. I feel NO obligation to or respect for him. I am aware that he sits in the Oval Office but there have been other nefarious evil-doers who have done so. Nixon, for one. 

I respect the OFFICE but not the man. I simply cannot feel any respect for this man, not as president, and not as pussy grabber. 

I feel, in fact, GREAT disrespect for this man. There is no reason to pretend otherwise by going to the inauguration. To do so would be kiss-assing, which isn't something I do as a matter of respect for myself.

But... most on the left in the old LJWorld comments sections and the left in general would admonish us that Obama WAS our President.  Now they are the ones most vocal about #notmypresident.  Hypocrites.
