In Support of Globalism
#11
When we decide a system has to be flat up against one extreme or another, that's when we get into trouble. Why not have balance... a system where we balance ourselves against a big loss, rather than constantly fighting with our neighbors.

If I don't answer when you talk to me or about me, that's likely because I have you on ignore.  Try to PM me. It won't let you PM me if I have you on ignore. There are other people, not members, who peruse this site. I want THEM to know why I don't reply to everyone who talks to or about me.

It takes at least two to get along.  But then I 'spose I could let that other feller cut my head off.  That would be one way to get along.

What you said makes no sense at all.

We don't have to forget.  But we do.  That's why I said it was another in a long list of philosophies that looks great on paper but doesn't work in reality.

The whole premise of the hastily written initial post is to pose a consideration of what goals & actions are ultimately best for everyone.  It doesn't advocate turning a blind eye to national security nor does it disparage the accomplishments of capitalism & free enterprise.  It asks you to be mindful of the likely consequences if our country, as well as other nations, enact policies & implement advancements at the exclusion or expense of others.

Tribalism and Nationalism are good if the accomplishments are shared for the benefit of all.  Otherwise it is selfish egotism & eventual self-inflicted harm.  Everyone & everything is connected.  The more we acknowledge that truth, the better off we will be.

I recall when Bush decided to go to war, he first named the operation "Enduring Crusade".  He immediately got pushback from our Arab partners who said the word "Crusade" brought back reminders of the Christian Crusades of 900 years ago.  Really?  Nine hundred years on and it's still on your mind?

Today, the Israeli PM is visiting Washington.  Another backdrop of a centuries old conflict between tribes and nations, the likes of which we have every reason to believe will go on for centuries to come.

The premise of your first post is just another in a long line of well meaning yet thoroughly unworkable ideas.  Socialism looks great on a piece of paper.  Globalism?  Sure why not.  Libertarianism?  I'm good with that as long as it's confined to words only.  It all sounds good to me.

People assume Globalism is unworkable because it can't be accomplished in the next six seconds. I agree with BAA that it needs to evolve.  I never said otherwise. It won't evolve, though, if people continually enact policies contrary to it.  It is the 'us' against 'them' mentality that is the biggest hindrance.  There is no 'them.'  There is only 'us.'

Sure it does.  You said you wanted a system that is in balance where there is no fighting.  I just thought maybe you guys would stop rioting and stuff
