Blame it on Harvey

I love Clarksville, the brick, the river(s).  We have a cousin there. It's about halfway home and we usually stay there.

I just glanced at your post and thought you said it was a halfway home, and I wondered why somebody would want to stay in one of those Smile

I've stayed in Clarksville a time or two.   Never did take the last train.  There's always room at Rock's, oysters or not.

Anyway, to promote harmony wherever you land, I'd say pick up a 40lb. gunny sack of oysters on your way out of town.  That might get you in at Rock's diggins. Smile

What is it with Clarksville, TN. I spent the night once at the Days Inn just off I-24 at Clarksville.  I used to drive to Chattanooga and south very often. I got sick AND tired of flying. I hate airports. hate hate hate

So I drove when I had the time, although flying also took forever from Topeka. I had a grandkid in Nashville at Vanderbilt for 5 years too, so lots of trips taht way. Three of the people I visited have since died so I don't go as often now. I would drive as much at night as possible and never booked a motel ahead, so the one at Clarksville showed up just when I was ready to stop for the night.

Dang, I should have looked under the bed. That motel was kind of funny. That's why I remember it. They had me drive around back and there wasn't enough good lighting back there and I was alone in the middle of the night. I hurried inside and locked the door well but it just felt kind of iffy to me.  Not as bad as one on I-70 I stopped at one night.  I just looked for the first one that came up when I got tired. It was a short drive on to Kansas City, not too far from home, but I was falling asleep. The lady who came to the window in the middle of the night looked pissed off. She took my money but she looked at me as if she thought I'd have a man hiding in the car. She didn't seem to believe me that I was alone. And sure enough, once I was in the room she knocked on the door for some made up reason and then pushed her way inside to give me... I think it was a sheet or something.
